Affogato: The Perfect Union of Coffee and Gelato

The classic Italian dessert affogato is perhaps the ultimate taste sensation, marrying the sweetness of gelato with the more pungent flavor profiles of espresso. It is easy to make, but everything depends on the quality of its two basic ingredients.

Preparation

1. Brew a good cup of espresso coffee.

2. Put a scoop of vanilla-flavored gelato in a cup or small dessert bowl.

3. Drizzle the shot of steaming espresso over the gelato.

Optional: Add a shot of liqueur such as B&B, Frangelico, Kahlua or Amaretto
