Food for Thought: Spring, 2019
Spring is here!! Thank goodness. This one truly was a very long winter here in Michigan. The good news is that we can always count on spring following winter. Time to start a new season. And in that spirit, we would like to introduce you to our new associate publisher Marla Camp.
Marla comes to us from Austin Texas where she was the owner and publisher of Edible Austin for 12 years. We met Marla when we first began publishing Edible WOW, nearly 12 years ago and became fast friends as Marla has a deep affection for Southeast Michigan. Marla has not only provided sage advice on publishing, she has become a dear friend of the Edible WOW family. You will find her feature, “Liquid Assets, the Tom Isaia Story” in this issue. Also new in this spring issue of Edible WOW is our “Edible Reads” department, created by Marla to bring some of our favorite books to you, our reader.
We encourage all of our readers to reach out to Marla and give her a warm Edible WOW welcome. Marla can be reached at marla@ediblewow.com with any of your thoughts, comments or story ideas.
This spring issue we also bring you our very popular “Edible Notables,” which include a very sharp story about the “Never Dull” a knife sharpening service at the Royal Oak and Northville farmers markets. Also, meet Feet on the street strolling brunch tour company in Detroit. You will be not only be educated to the growth and development of Detroit food community, you will be entertained.
And we take you to Bon Bon Bon, which creates delicious treats as well as works of art in the world of chocolate.
Our “Feeding the Community” feature highlights the good folks from Fluffy Bottom Farms in Washtenaw County. And you don’t want to pass by our article on vertical gardening. There is more than one way to grow our food.
As we publish our 46th edition of Edible WOW, we give thanks for all of the support from our advertising partners and ask our dedicated readers to seek them out. Buy Local and Support Local are more than just words on paper. When you support our local merchants, farmers and vendors you contribute to a vibrant social network that you will never find in the big - box stores.
