Summer 2018, Issue 43

Summer is here. Find everything in Issue 43.

Summer is here. And the reason we know that is because on any given day, night or weekend, you can find a farmer’s market full of fun, friends, family and the bounty of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

In over 10 years of visiting the markets in Michigan, it is amazing to see how the support of the community has helped local farmers and food producers earn a fair living doing what they love. Visiting a farmer’s market is an exercise in living. Think about the sights, sounds and scents of the market, the bright colors of the fruits and vegetables and the fresh taste of samples from the vendors.

When you meet a farmer, feel free to thank them for producing clean, healthy food for you and your family. Remember that when you spend your food dollars at a local farmer’s market, you are truly helping our economy.

Need help finding a farmer’s market? Look no further than the edibleWOW website for a list of markets in our area. Do you plan on vacationing this summer in Michigan? Visit the Michigan Farmers Market Association website, Mifma.org for a list of markets throughout our state. You can also visit the Michigan Organic Food & Farm Alliance website, Moffa.net for information about organic farms in our area.

While you’re at the market, introduce yourself to the market manager and tell him or her that the good folks from edibleWOW sent you. Enjoy your visit and let us know about your favorite market.
