Henry Ford Culinary Scholarship Dinner
Celebration of Fifteen Years of the FIFTY-ONE O ONE Kuhlmann Dining Room The KDR was dedicated in October of 2002 and is named to honor Gary and Susan Kuhlmann, business and community leaders who have shared their time, talents and resources with Henry Ford College. Mr. and Mrs. Kuhlmann continue to actively support the college and the Hospitality Studies Department. The Private Dining Room has seating for 24 guests, audio and video capability for presentations and speakers and is serviced from the Fifty-One O One Restaurant. The space is used by the Hospitality Studies department when hosting senior and community groups, high school students, service organizations and other visitors.
Fifty-One O One Restaurant 5101 Evergreen is the street address of Henry Ford College and the origin of the name of the restaurant. It is a full-scale polished casual dining restaurant opened in 2002, and has been freshly renovated in 2017 with a design by Richard Bohl, AIA, of Grosse Isle, MI. The student-run restaurant is able to be configured to hold 72, 96 or 120 guests depending on the style of service. Fifty One O One features warm colors, rich wood and soft lighting to complement the service and food presented by faculty, staff and students. Guests from the community and HFC campus enjoy lunch and dinner service in the restaurant when school is in session fall, winter and spring semesters.
Fifty-One O One Restaurant Kitchen Open and visible from the dining room, guests to the restaurant watch as students work each of the seven production stations. This lab features industry- standard equipment such as the hearth oven, wood fired grill & rotisserie, and ten burner saute’ range for an experience filled with action, teamwork and fire. All students in the Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, and Hotel/ Restaurant Management degree programs rotate through the A’la Carte kitchen in their second semester at HFC.
